![]() 1. Out of State Clients:
For potential clients who live out of state, we offer more than one option. For clients who live far away from Oklahoma, we can help with initial applications for Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits (DIB) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). These are normally done by mail and telephone anyway. If a hearing is necessary, we can refer you to an attorney in your state for help with judge hearings and Federal Court appeals. Because this office is a member of a national organization of offices who emphasize disability claims, we can help you find an attorney who actually knows a lot about this very specialized practice, and is sometimes a friend. A referral fee may be requested from the attorney we refer you to, but the total fee you pay will not be increased as a result. In the vast majority of cases, all the attorneys charge no more than 25 percent of your past-due benefits. This referral will cost you nothing and may help you avoid an attorney who only dabbles in this difficult area. For states close to Oklahoma, we occasionally will travel to another state for judge hearings. So don't hesitate to contact us just because you live far away. If you need help with an application or a hearing, contact us. To speed things up, ask for an "intake" with one of our paralegals. If you just have a question and your local Social Security Office cannot help, try their toll free number at 1-800-772-1213. But you should probably call several times and see if you get the same answer. Like most government offices, you may get different answers to the same question. 2. Veterans Claims:
For referrals with Veterans Administration disability claims, we can sometimes help. Unfortunately, VA claims do not allow attorneys to charge a fee for help at the administrative level, so it is difficult to find one to accept a referral. If you have already received a denial from the Bureau of Veterans Appeals, we may be able to help. There are also attorneys who have a nation-wide practice in VA appeals to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and we know several very experienced ones. Again, this referral will cost you nothing; any referral fee is paid by the attorney.3. Federal Tort Claims Act:
These are very special cases. They provide for money damages for medical malpractice at Veterans Hospitals, among other things. We have worked with an attorney who has a nation-wide practice in such cases. She used to settle such cases for the VA; now she helps Veterans get fair settlements. If you think you may have such a claim, ask for a referral. Please understand that this will not help with ordinary refusal to treat you or doctors who are jerks; this is for when the VA doctors made you worse. Again, your fee will not be increased because of this referral. For more information, see our FTCA page. ![]() ![]() |
